Satire is not a two way street.

That is the proposal.  That it is unlikely to be possible for there to be equivalence on the right and left.  Now that is an awkward statement or phrasing of the* obvious. 

There is difficulty comparing anything at opposite ends of the political spectrum, let alone** middles.  The Olbermann/Beck comparison is along the lines of journalism more than parody.  Limbaugh along the lines of Colbert more than Olbermann.  It may be along the lines of who is pulling whose leg for whom.  That's the gravitas!

To paraphrase the difficulty for which there is more work needed, parody may be more difficult for those in power. But this may confuse parody with satire, or either with having a point, confounded by the(~)irony of being direct about the point in a world of hypocrisy.

"Too many Americans...get their news from entertainers (who) tell them what to be angry about today." The Senator should face the music and correct things right away. Maybe the Fairness Doctrine then? Just kidding. He should start with Steven Colbert. CORRECTION: The Ed Show (Apparently he handled Colbert well enough, and Ed Schultz is who he should fish or cut bait with.)
The Senator makes some very good points even though his list is not fair and balanced on the face of it.
